So my user had content on a WebHome
page that he thought should be on a status page. He renamed it, but web/WebHome.txt is the test for a web's existance... he blocked everyone else from using that web.
Correct. The definition of a web (thanks to TW
was changed to "a directory that contains WebHome
.txt" so that other directories could rest alongside webs.
Can we change it to test for WebPreferences
? Reason being that users often start with one page (webhome) that has all their content. Sooner or later they want to take the page and its history to another place and have something holistic on the front page.
is a user-oriented page. Renaming it should not constitute deleting the web.
Few users fiddle with WebPreferences
and I see much less reason to ever rename that.
I think Martin's idea is great. He is right that the topic WebPreferences
is not very likely to be renamed. Especially not by the occational user because this is the ONE page in each web that the admin will normally give more tight access restrictions.
Fine by me. Changing to Requirement, as we cannot allow a release to go without this change (assuming we are going to make it)
I agree! This just happened to us today.
Can't wait for Martin any longer. SVN 7846 CC
Sorry, I would have implemented had I noticed / been notified that this change proposal changed status.
