Detail

In our office TWiki we have 100s of topics with table where the TABLE and EDITTABLE tags are on the same line

This worked fine in 4.1.2

But not in 4.2.0

I see no reason why the tags have to be in separate lines and it breaks compatibility. Upgrading for us means spending hours changing topics so the two are on two lines.

As you will notice the error is not only making the plugins inactive. The whole TWiki layout is goofed up with the left bar on the right and other errors.

This one I would like to get back to the 4.1.2 behavior before release of 4.2.0.

Test cases.

I simply never had a testcase to test against.

-- TWiki:Main.ArthurClemens - 28 Dec 2007

I must admit that I was surprised when I saw the use of the two on the same line. I have personally always used two lines.

But my users have at some point found that it worked on one line and used in a meeting minute template, and that is why I now have 100s of topics with this problem. Users are so creative.

-- TWiki:Main.KennethLavrsen - 28 Dec 2007

After having looked more all the topics that have the TABLE and EDITTABLE on the same line also have some other strange script statements at the start of the topic which the old kupu Wysiwyg leaves behind in some interaction with another plugin. So I am pretty sure all those topics were at some point edited by the old Wysiwyg editor.

So it is most likely not my users that have started placing the two on the same line. My theory is that it is the old Wysiwyg editor that was eating new lines so the TABLE and EDITTABLE ended up on the same line.

This means that quite many TWiki's out there has the same problem. The admins may not be aware of it because in 4.1.X it worked with the TABLE and EDITTABLE on the same line. But they will notice when they upgrade to 4.2.0. So we'd better keep this urgent and get it closed before 4.2.0 release.
