(I know this has been discussed in the Support wwb. I want t be sure it's been officially filed as a request.)

Many times, when I set up a form to create a new page from a template, I don't want the person creating that ppage t d ANY editing of the new topic via the TWiki "edit" page. Instead, I use a template that includes COMMENT plugin sections, Editable tables, buttons, and other content modification magic that will allow the user to update the page without ever clicking edit.

Unfortunately, TWiki doesn't (yet) permit the ability to bypass the initial edit step. Initially, I weas setting action=form (so that the user didn't see anything TO edit) but this was confusing people a ot. So now, I insert a large block comment in te template that says, in effect "Nothing to see here folks. Please move along". That's a pretty lame workaround.

I would prefer one of two options:

  • action=view in the edit script (meaning create the page and don't show either text or form, just save it and take me to the first View screen)
  • a new "create" script so I could do something like
    <form action='%SCRIPTURLPATH{"create"}%/%WEB%/'>

-- TWiki:Main/VickiBrown - 22 Dec 2007

The save script should support this directly now I think - just replace edit with save in the form.

Sorry, I could not find the topic in the Support web - but creating a new topic without an edit step can actually be done quite easily:

<form action='%SCRIPTURLPATH{"save"}%'>
<input type="hidden" name="templatetopic" value="YourTemplate" />
<input type="hidden" name="onlynewtopic" value="on" />

Are there any features you are missing?

Sounds like Harald answered this.

That's perfect. No bug.
