Item5007: WysiwygPlugin has varying problems with attachments

This is a fresh install of TWiki 4.1.2, Apache 2.0.55, Ubuntu 6.06. Installation is default parameters, other than enabling the WysiwygPlugin. We're evaluating a Wiki for nontechnical users to use.

I noted some issues using the Wysiwyg editor.

Attempting to attach a file with a nonstandard character causes an Internal Server Error. The file does get properly uploaded and has its filename translated, although the editor seems blissfully unaware of this. One can then go in and manually update the link via the regular editor to get it working. The Apache error log is available if desired, but I'm guessing it's not needed.

Additionally,

Uploading a properly-named file via the WYSIWYG editor causes the following to appear in the editor's debug window:

<>TWiki detected an internal error - please check your TWiki logs and webserver logs for more information.>

<>>

<>ERROR: http:path>

... although everything otherwise appears to work perfectly. Here's the apache error log for the operation. No useful error message (to me):

Please upgrade WysiwygPlugin and install TinyMCEPlugin in place of Kupu. You will find it is significantly more robust/useable. These problems are (I believe) specific to Kupu.

Is there any demand to get this fixed, anyway? Other than this minor detail, I was quite pleased with how well it worked.

Not much. Generally people seem to prefer TinyMCE, and from my point of view it's a lot easier to work with. At some point I'll get around to obsoleting Kupu completely.

I am no longer supporting the KupuContrib. Please use the TinyMCEPlugin instead.
