When installing a plugin from a .zip at twiki.org I noticed:

• http://twiki.org/cgi-bin/viewfile/Plugins/TocPlugin?rev=1.3;filename=TocPlugin.zip
  • This is the link from the plugin page at TWiki:Plugins.TocPlugin
  • Sends an old version of the plugin, 28531 bytes (1 version earlier than /pub/ file)

• http://twiki.org/p/pub/Plugins/TocPlugin/TocPlugin.zip
  • This is the intended, latest uploaded version, 37267 bytes

A similar problem was encountered in TWiki:Plugins.UpdateInfoPluginDev recently.

The manage view for the page http://twiki.org/cgi-bin/attach/Plugins/TocPlugin?filename=TocPlugin.zip&revInfo=1 misses the version uploaded by me, so it looks like the topic content, content history and the pub folder was updated, but not the attachment history.

This suggests the error is not with viewfile, but in the error handling on upload.

As this error is probably not easy to track/reproduce, perhaps best shot at using it for improvement would be in BuildContrib, possibly enhancing it with ability to double-check for this error on upload; i.e. re-downloading the file from twiki.org topic and checking if file content matches what was uploaded.

I will re-upload TocPlugin once an assessment of this bug has been done.
