See here. It appears to be a general problem with SEARCH, probably related to parsing the topic list.

Added unit test in 11445 (currently fails)

Fixed in TWiki 4 and DEVELOP.

I am including this in hotfix-4.0.4-4 since it is easy to understand, seems to work well, did not break any of my many searches and seems important for many.
