I should mention, there are no problems with these texts in danish.

Disabling the user interface internationalisation solves the problem. That's why I suspect a bug in UserInterfaceInternationalisation. Only appears in translation like:

something %1 blah

Strange... "no problems with these texts in danish" Maybe my translation is messed up? Can you take a look. I attach it.

I can't reproduce it either with Portuguese + iso-8859-1, but here is how it works, so it can help in finding where is the error:

When we have something like something %1 blah, we first fetch the translation, which is supposed to be in UTF-8. The argument that will replace the %1 is assumed to be in site charset, and before being interpolated into the translated string, it's converted to UTF-8. After interpolating, the whole thing is converted back to the site charset.

So, in principle this problem does not make sense ... unless there are something you couldn't see yet or something related to iso-8859-2 (although I don't think so).

You are right. I tried and other translations are right. That's why I think the problem is in my translation. (it can be something stupid) I started translation with gtranslator and continued with vim (termencoding=iso8859-2 encoding=utf8).

If I start with a blank translation and translate a few entry it works as expected. So I think the problem is in the attached hu.po file. But I do not want to throw out my partial translation and start it over however.

So if you have any ideas how to repair this file (or find where the error is) please tell me.

This is curious, the translation file runs with no special problems here. Perhaps you need to revisit locale setup (at the server) or TWiki I18N setup?

Tamas, can you identify if there is some pattern in the type of translated messages that cause this problem.

Also, could you check the encoding of the filenames where your topics are stored, if they are iso-8859-2 or UTF-8?
