When installed on a new machine, running TWiki_installer.pl starts with a bunch of error messages of the sort

Could not write "Plugins: could not fully register CommentPlugin, no plugin topic" to /warn200512.txt: Permission denied
Could not write "Plugins: could not fully register EditTablePlugin, no plugin topic" to /warn200512.txt: Permission denied
...

The docs are not helpful on that topic, they don't mention how (or if?) to use TWiki_installer.pl at all. Should it be removed from the manifest or is it necessary?

Those are actually warnings, not errors. However it's not necessary, and it should not be included. Because we use the Build.pm, the installer is included in the manifest automatically, and there is no simple way to exclude it.

this is because LogsDir isn't "properly" defaulted, as has been reported several times by AJA and myself. i'll look into finding the other bug reports and linking/retiring the appropriate ones when i get a chance (probably monday)

The installer is no longer included in the package, so closing this.
